Wenner

Peter Wenner was born c.1814. The Wenner family is from Crumstadt,

Hessen. The Wenner family immigrated to the United States in 1864. They

arrived at New York on 5 July, 1864, on board the Steamship, New York.

Peter was a farmer in Fosters Meadow in 1880. Peter Wenner died on 6

April, 1884.

Elizabeth Kraft was Peter’s first wife but she died before he immigrated to

America. No additional information on Elizabeth Kraft. Peter and Elizabeth

had four children together. (see below).

Catherina Wenner Catherina’s maiden name was either Roth or Sneider.

These names are both listed on two of her children’s New York death

certificates.

Catherina was Peter’s second wife and she was born in May of 1830.

Catherina died on 16 October, 1904. Peter and Catherina had seven

children together. (See Below).

Peter and Catherina are both buried at the old Elmont Cemetery next to

Beth David Cemetery on Elmont Road, Elmont, New York.

Peter and Elizabeth Wenner’s Five Children:

1: Susan Wenner was born in August of 1843. Married Charles H.

Walter in c.1867. Charles Walter was born in July, 1843. The 1870

through 1910 censuses list Charles as a farmer in the Hempstead area

of New York. Susan died in 1921. Charles died on 10 October, 1918

and was buried on 13 October, 1918. Charles and Susan are buried at

the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Elmont, New York.

Charles and Susan had ten children together.

 

i: Peter Walter was born on 16 April, 1868. Peter died on 15 July,

1923, at Port Washington, Nassau, New York. Peter was a farmer

on Middle Neck Road in North Hempstead, New York, until his

death in 1923. Peter married his first wife, Mary Callahan, on 28

August, 1892. Mary was born on 31 December, 1866. She died

on 12 November, 1904. Peter and Mary are buried at the St.

Paul’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Elmont, New York. Peter

and Mary had three sons and a daughter.

Peter’s second wife was Catherine Golden. They were married on

2 June, 1906. Catherine was born on 3 October, 1872 and died

on 17 October, 1918. Peter and Catherine are buried at the St.

Paul’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Elmont, New York. They

had two sons together.

Peter married Adelaide “Addie” Denlea born on 13 January, 1885,

as his third wife. Adelaide was the niece of second wife Catherine

Golden. Peter and Adelaide were married on 29 May 1919.

Adelaide died on 13 February, 1978. Adelaide is buried at the St.

Patrick Cemetery, Upper Brookville, Nassau, New York. They had

no children.

ii: Henrietta Walter was born in July, 1869. Her first marriage was

to Charles Grain. Charles was born c.1866 and died on 6

February,1908. Charles was a farmer in the Hempstead area of

New York. Henrietta and Charles were married on 31 July, 1892,

at the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Elmont, New York.

Henrietta and Charles had one son and one daughter. Henriette

married her second husband, George Wood on 4 April, 1909.

George was a building contractor. Henriette and George lived in

Floral Park, New York. Henriette Wood died on 6 February, 1944.

George Wood died on 23 May, 1922. George is buried at the St.

Paul’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Elmont, New York.

 

iii: Edward Walter was born c.1870. On the 1880 census Edward

was ten years old. No additional information found.

iv: Charles Walter was born on 26 January, 1871. Charles married

Louise Ryf, born on 15 August, 1870. Charles was a farmer in the

Hempstead area of New York. Charles and Louise had one son

and three daughters together. Charles died on 12 October, 1918

and was buried on 15 October, 1918. Louise died on 10 February,

1957. Charles and Louise are buried the St. Paul’s Presbyterian

Church Cemetery, Elmont, New York.

v: Louisa Walter was born in September, 1873. Louisa married

Jacob Stattel on 1 March, 1896 at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church

in Elmont, New York. Jacob Stattel was born on 15 August, 1871.

On the 1900 census Jacob and Louisa were living in Hempstead.

Jacob was working as a teamster. From 1910 through 1940, they

were living in Marlboro Township in New Jersey. Jacob was then

working as a farmer.

Louisa died in 1947 and Jacob died in June of 1955. Louisa and

Jacob are buried at the Old Brick Reformed Church Cemetery,

Marlboro, Monmouth County, New Jersey. They had one son and

one daughter together.

vi: John Walter was born in c.1875. John was 17 years old on the

1892 census. He was living with his parents, Charles, and Susan

Walter, and was listed as a farmer. No other information for John

was found.

vii: William Walter was born in January, 1878. William was living

with his parents in 1900 and he was listed as a farm laborer. No

additional information found.

 

viii: Henry Christopher Walter was born on 15 September, 1882.

Henry died on 22 April,1947. Henry was listed as a farm laborer

on his WWI draft registration. He was listed as self-employed on

his WWII draft registration. Henry is buried at the St. Paul’s

Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Elmont, New York. No family

was found.

ix: Jacob Walter was born on 7 September, 1884. Jacob was

married to Mary (maiden name unknown) c.1922. Jacob died in

c.1962. Mary’s death date unknown. Burial location for Jacob and

Mary unknown.

x: Annie Walter was born c.1887. In 1920, Anna was living with

her brother Jacob and her mother in North Hempstead. No

additional information found.

2: Marie Wenner birth year is based on the 5 July, 1864, ship

manifest, of the steamship, New York. Marie’s age was listed as 20

years old, which would make her birth c.1844. No additional

information found for Marie.

3: Peter Wenner was born in February, 1846. Peter immigrated alone

from Crumstadt, Hessen, to New York about three months earlier than

his family. He arrived on 28 March, 1864, aboard the steamship

America. Peter married Louisa Amelia Seufert (Seifert) on 8 July, 1871

in the City of New York. In 1900 Peter was a farmer in the Hempstead

area of New York. He farmed in the Brookhaven area until his death.

Peter died on 31 August, 1924, in Brookhaven, New York. Louisa

Amelia Wenner died in 1910. Peter and Louise Amelia are buried at

the St. John’s Methodist Church Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York.

Peter and Louise had nine children together.

 

i: Peter Wenner was born on 23 August, 1871. Peter died on 15

September, 1871. He was 22 days old. Peter is buried at the St.

Paul’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Elmont, New York.

ii: Amelia Wenner was born in 1874. Amelia married George Klein

on 26 October, 1898, at the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in

Elmont, New York. Amelia died on 22 February, 1900. George

died on 5 January, 1906, and was buried on 7, January, 1906.

Amelia and George are buried at the St. John’s Methodist Church

Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York.

iii: Mary Wenner was born in September of 1875. No additional

information found.

iv: Elizabeth Wenner was born on 8 November, 1877. Elizabeth

married John Michael Jacobs on 17 January, 1911. John was

born on 25 August, 1873. In 1920 Elizabeth and John were living

in Jamaica, New York and John was working as a carpenter. In

the 1930 and 1940’s John was working as a florist. Elizabeth died

on 5 January, 1941. Elizabeth is buried at the St. John’s

Methodist Church Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York. No

children found.

v: Louisa Katherina Wenner was born on 27 November, 1879.

Louisa married Herbert Hicks on 12 October, 1905. Herbert was

born on 26 May, 1873. Herbert was a teamster for a contracting in

1910. From 1930 to the 1950’s, Louisa and Herbert were living in

Oyster Bay, New York. Herbert was a horticulturist for a nursery.

In the 1940’c and 1950’s, Herbert was a watchman for a state

institution. Louise died in 1958. Herbert died on 31 December,

1956. Louise and Herbert are buried at the Amityville Cemetery,

Amityville, New York. Louisa and Herbert had three daughters

together.

 

vi: Theodor Wenner was born on 25 May,1882. Theodor is not

listed on the 1892 or 1900 census. Probably died before 1892.

vii: Lotte “Lottie” Catherina Wenner was born on 3 January, 1884.

Lotte was the name used on the St. Paul’s Church birth record.

Census documents used Lottie and Charlotte. Charlotte was living

with her father into 1915. In 1920 she was living with her brother

Emil. No additional information found.

viii: Florence Wenner was born on 10 April, 1885. Florence

married Frederick Stewart in 1908. Frederick was an electrician

for the phone company in 1910. From 1920, Frederick was an

equipment engineer for the telephone company. Florence died on

19 December, 1966. Frederick died on 1 September, 1947. They

are both buried at the Plain Lawn Cemetery, Hicksville, New York.

Florence and Frederick had two sons and a daughter.

ix: Emil Arthur Wenner was born on 22 September, 1888. Emil

married Mary A. Blanchard c.1918. In the 1920-1930’s Emil was a

farmer in the Brookhaven area of New York. Emil died in March

of 1949 and Mary died in June of 1982. They buried at the Holy

Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram, New York. Emil and Mary had four

sons and a daughter.

4: Jacob Wenner was born in c.1850. His mother was Elizabeth

Kraft. Jacob married Elizabeth Buck on 26 April, 1874 at the St.

Paul’s Reformed Church in Jamaica, New York. Jacob was a farm

laborer. Jacob died on 13 November, 1890, Queens, New York.

Elizabeth died on 11 January, 1927, at Melville, Suffolk, New York.

Jacob and Elizabeth are buried at the St. Paul’s Presbyterian

Church Cemetery in Elmont, New York. Jacob and Elizabeth had

a one son and two daughters together.

 

i: Mary “Mammie” Wenner was born in January 1876. She

married George Frank Stiehler (1876-1952) on 25 January, 1899.

They were married at the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Elmont,

New York. George was a farmer in the Hempstead area of New

York. Mary died on 3 December, 1959. Mary and George are

buried at the Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, New York. They

had one son together.

ii: Theresa “Daisy” Wenner was born on 4 February, 1879.

Theresa married Henry Frank Jr. (1877-1950) about 1901. Frank

was a farmer in the North Hempstead area. Mary died about 1933

in Northport, New York. No burial information for Theresa or

Frank. They had two sons together.

iii: Frank Charles Wenner was born on 25 August, 1881. Frank

married Anna Marie Young (1891-1951) on March 1912. Frank

and Anna were married at the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in

Elmont, New York. Frank was a farmer in the Hempstead and

Huntington areas of New York. Frank died on 19 May, 1936 and

is buried at the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Elmont, New

York. No burial information for Anna Wenner. Together, they had a

son and a daughter.

5: Margarethe Wenner was born on 25 January February, 1851.

Margarethe mother was Barbara Kraft. Margarethe married her first

husband, Peter Rudolph, on 14 September, 1870. Peter was a cigar

maker. Margarethe and Rudolph had one son together.

i: Peter Rudolph was born in August, 1880. Peter was working as

wagon painter. No additional Information.

Margarethe married her second husband, Anton Quidemus, at the St.

Paul’s Presbyterian Church on 10 April, 1881. Anton was born in July,

1844. Anton ran his own nursery and was a well know florist.

 

Margarethe died on 26 March, 1913. Anton died on 4 February, 1920.

Margarethe and Anton are buried at the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church

Cemetery, Elmont, New York. Margarethe and Anton had four children

together.

i: Anton Heinrich Quidemus was born on 21 December, 1883.

Anton married Mattie Lanoce on 26 September, 1909. Mattie was

born in c.1880. From 1920 to the 1940’s Anton Was an

automobile mechanic. On the 1950 census, Anton was unable to

work. Anton died on 15 April, 1951. Mattie died on 31 December,

1956. Anton and Mattie are buried at the St. Paul's Presbyterian

Church Cemetery, Elmont, New York. Anton and Mattie had one

son together.

ii: Edward Anton Quidemus was born on 8 October, 1886. Edward

died on 19 April, 1990. Edward is buried at the St. Paul’s Church

Cemetery, Elmont, New York.

iii: Elsie Marie Quidemus was born in c.1893. Elsie married

George Simon Jr. on 31 March, 1913. George worked as a

plumber. George died on 4 March, 1919 and is buried at the St.

Paul’s Presbyterian church Cemetery, Elmont, New York. No

additional information on Elsie.

iv: Jacob Franz Quidemus was born on 17 May, 1889. St. Paul’s.

Married Edith Bertha Butehorn on 4 April, 1913. Edith was born

on 29 April, 1892. On Jacob’s WWI draft registration, dated 5

June, 1917, he claimed that he was physically unable to work due

to sickness. Jacob died on 13 January, 1918. He is buried at the

St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Elmont, New York.

Edith died on 11 December, 1973. She is buried at the All-Faiths

Cemetery, Middle Village. New York under her second marriage

name of Meyer. No children found.

 

Peter and Catherina Wenner’s Seven Children:

1: Louisa Wenner was born in August 1857. Louisa married William

Thomas 20 December, 1880, in New York City, New York. Louisa and

William lived in Flushing in 1892 and William was working as a hotel

keeper. From the 1900 though the 1910 census, Louisa and William

were living in North Hempstead on Middle Neck Road and William still

worked as a Hotel Keeper. Louisa and William had four children

2: Elisa Wenner was born in c.1859. This is based on the 1864 ship

manifest where her age is listed as five years old. Elisa’s mother is

listed as Catherine Sneider on her death certificate. Elisa married John

Moore c.1880 and he was born on 4 February, 1851. John worked as a

laborer at various jobs in the Borough of Queens from 1910 through

the 1920’s. Elisa died on 21 September, 1934 and her burial was on 23

September, 1934. John died on 31 January, 1934. Elisa Moore and her

husband, John Moor(e), are buried at the St. Paul’s Church Cemetery

in Elmont, New York.

Elisa and John had nine children but only five were alive on the 1900

census. The five are listed below.

i: Florence Amelia Moore was born in May,1883. Florence married

Robert Anthony Graf c.1906. Robert was born on 6 July. 1878. In

1910-1915 Robert was a helper in a green house and was a florist.

 

Robert was a carpenter from 1920 through 1940. Florence died on 30

November, 1963. Robert died on 18 January, 1964. Three sons and

two daughters.

ii: Leona Catherine “Kate” Moore was born in July, 1885. Leona

married Peter Henry Graf on 14 May, 1908. Peter was born on 14

June, 1884. From the 1910 to 1950 census occupation was list as

a florist. Leona died on 30 April, 1982 in Grand Junction,

Colorado. Peter died in February, 1969. Leona and Peter are

buried at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Leona

and Peter had one daughter together.

iii: Leonard Moore was born on 3 October, 1891. From 1910

through 1940, Leonard worked as a nurseryman and florist. In

1940, Leonard was still single and was living with his Aunt

Barbara Wenner in Queens, New York. Leonard died on 16 July,

1945. Leonard is buried at the St. Paul’s Church Cemetery,

Elmont, New York. Leonard had no wife or children.

iv: Hilda Barbary (Moor) Moore was born on 26 August 1894.

Hilda worked for a candy manufacturer as a baker and packer.

She was single when she died of a heart attack, at age 31, on the

main station platform at a Long Island Railway in Queens New

York. Hilda died on 3 December, 1925. She is buried at the St.

Paul’s Church Cemetery in Elmont, New York.

v: Viola Bertha Moore was born on 17 November, 1896. In 1920,

Viola had a clerical job in a paper factory. Viola married William

Rausch on 25 August, 1921. William Rausch was born in c.1880.

William died on 31 December, 1923. William is buried at the St.

Paul’s Church Cemetery, Elmont, New York. No additional

information on Viola.

 

3: Barbara Wenner was born on 15 December, 1861. In 1900,

Barbara lived with her mother, Catherine, in Hempstead, New York.

After her mother died in 1904, Barbara lived with her sister Elise and

her husband John Moore into the early 1940’s. She was living with her

niece, Mrs. Rober Graf, when she died on 8 March, 1944. Barbara was

never married.

4: Henry Wenner was born in January 1866. Henry married Amelia

Lousia Hoffman on 27 August, 1886. Amelia Louisa Hoffman was born

in June of 1866. Henry and Amelia (Emilie) were married at the St.

Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Elmont, New York, on 27 August, 1886.

Henry was a farmer in Port Washington, on Middle Neck Road, from

1900 until his death in 1941. Henry died on 19 December, 1941.

Amelia died in Port Washington, New York, on 4 November, 1959.

When she died at age 93, she had forty Grand Children, sixty Great

Grandchildren and nine Great-Great Grand Children. Henry and

Amelia are buried at the Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, New York.

They names are inscribed on the Roepke tombstone and they are

buried in the Roepke cemetery plot. They had thirteen children

together:

i: Charles Wenner was born on 30 September, 1884. In 1920,

Charles was a motor truck chauffeur. Charles married Louise

Fischer on 13 April, 1923. Louise was born in 1891. Charles was

a truck farmer during the 1930-1940’s in Port Washington, New

York. Charles died on 19 August,1969, at the Bayside Gardens

Nursing Home. Louise died in 1963. Charles and Louise are

buried at the Flushing Cemetery, Queens, New York. Charles and

Louise deaths are inscribed on the Fischer family tombstone. No

children found.

ii: Katherine Emilie Wenner was born on 13 October, 1887.

Katherine married Leon Richedieu on 5 March, 1904. Leon was

 

born on 11 January, 1882. In 1910, Leon was a driver for a farm.

Leon was listed as a welder in 1920. Leon was living in Port

Washington in 1930 and was working as a Mason Helper. Leon

was on government relief in 1940. Katherine died in January,

1982. Leon died on 25 May, 1940. Katherine and Leon had three

sons and two daughters together.

iii: Henry Charles Wenner Jr. was born on 4 April 1889. Henry

married Emma Langley Livingstone on 26 November, 1913.

Emma was born on 3 June, 1892. Henry and Emma lived in the

Port Washington area of New York. Henry worked as a plumber.

Henry died on 25 April, 1941. Emma died on 16 September, 1946.

No children found.

iv: Peter Louis Wenner Born on 19 October, 1891. Peter married

Dora Kateryniuck before 1930 and after 1925. Dora was born

c.1891 in Poland. Dora was a widow with two sons when she

arrived in America in 1916. In 1930 and 1940, Peter and Dora

were living in Port Washington. During this period, Peter was

working as a gardener and Dora was housekeeping for a private

family. In 1950, Peter was working on road maintenance as a

mechanic. Peter died on 11 November, 1967 and is buried at the

Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, East Farmingdale, New

York. No children found for Peter and Dora.

v: Arthur Jacob Wenner was born on 27 July, 1893. During WWI,

Arthur was inducted in the army on 28 September, 1917. He

served overseas from 28 March 1918 to 30 April 1919. He was

discharged on 9 May. 1919. Arthur married Kathleen Wenner

c.1922. Kathleen was born in England c.1892. During 1925,

Arhtur was a general contractor. In 1930 and 1940, Arthur was a

gardener on a private estate. Arthur died on 20 October, 1973.

Kathleen died on 4 December, 1946. Arthur and Kathleen are

 

buried at the Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New

York. They had no children.

vi: Mildred May Wenner was born on 10 March, 1895. Mildred

married James Sherrard c.1926. This was James second

marriage. James was born on 2 May 1896. In 1930 James was

chauffeur in trucking. In 1940 and 1950 James was foreman for a

trucking company. Mildred and James lived in North Hempstead.

New York. Mildred died on 25 July, 1982. James died on 23

October, 1958. Mildred and James had three sons and two

daughters.

vii: Bertha Louisa Wenner was born on 14 born May, 1896. Bertha

married Otto Roepke on 20 January, 1919. Otto was born on 10

May, 1895. In 1920, Otto was a chauffeur for a private family.

From 1930 to 1950, Otto was a driver for a coal Company. Bertha

died on 14 May, 1971. Bertha is buried at the Greenfield

Cemetery, Uniondale, New York. Otto died in January, 1975.

Bertha and Otto had one son and four daughters.

viii: Emma Lena Wenner was born on 21 September, 1898.

Emma married James F. Fleming on 12 May, 1922. Emma died

on 27 January, 1992. No additional information found for Emma

and James.

ix: Emil Wilhelm Wenner born on 6 December, 1899. Emil married

Rose Boriotti on 22 June, 1922. Emil was a farmhand and farmer

from 1915 through the 1930’s in the Port Washington area of New

York. In the 1940’s, Emil was an operator for the Metropolitan

Sand & Gravel Company in Port Washington. Emil died on 21

May, 1961. Emil and Rose had two sons and a daughter.

x: Blossom M. Wenner was born on 24 February, 1902. Blossom

married William Allen on 7 July, 1920. William came to America

 

from London, England, when he was nine years old. William was

a chauffeur in the 1920 and 1930’s. The 1940 census lists William

owning his own radio repair shop. Blossom died in December,

1985. William Allen died on 26 June, 1968. William is Buried in

the Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York. Blossom and

William had two sons and a daughter.

xi: Minnie A. Wenner Brew 5 September, 1904. Minnie married

Arthur Louis Brew on 22 September, 1923 and he went by Louis.

Louis was born on 22 January, 1902. In 1930, Louis was an

automobile mechanic. In the 1940’s Louis was a driver for the

Lewis Oil and Coal Company. Louis was a mechanic for a radio

parts factory in 1950. Minnie died in March, 1973. Arthur Louis

died in October, 1974. Minnie and Louis had one son together.

xii: Clifford Wenner was born in 1908 died in 1908. Clifford is

buried at the Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, New York. Clifford

is buried at the Roepke plot.

xiii: Louis Edward Wenner was born on 10 December, 1909. Louis

married Anna M. Jacobs on 12 July, 1936. Anna was born in

c.1914. Louis was working as a farmer on his father’s farm in

1930. In 1940, Louis was a superintendent on a private estate.

Anna died c.1946. Louis and Anna had two daughters together.

Louis married his second wife, Lola Ann Carpenter, on 22 March,

1951 at Sarasota, Florida. Louis and Lola had three sons and one

daughter together. Louis retired as an automotive repairman.

Louis died on 6 December, 1992 in Deltona, Florida. He is buried

at the Deltona Memorial Gardens, Orange City, Florida.

5: Catherine Wenner c.1868 died 21 March, 1881. She was thirteen

years old. St. Paul’s Church Record. Buried at Van Nostrand’s Yard.

6: Bertha Wenner was born c.1875. No additional found.

 

7: John Wenner was born on 9 January 1875. John married Theresa

Finnegan on 24 October, 1918. John worked as a brewer in a brewery

until his death. Theresa died on 6 September, 1920. John died on 17

December, 1937 and was cremated at the Ferncliff Crematory, New

York.
